A D&D-inspired mimic chest. I felt inspired to make a mimic of my own and used it as an opportunity to try a bit of a stylized workflow.
The project was done from start to finish over the course of a weekend. I started with a super simple block out and then did a more refined mid-poly model and refined the forms and pose. High poly was sculpted in ZBrush and then I reworked the mid-poly into a low poly while re-topologizing the organic bits from scratch. Bake and renders are done in Marmoset and the textures are done in Substance Painter as 2 4k maps, one for the chest and one for the mouth. The final poly count for the low poly is 10,338 tris and 7491 verts.
